Basic Photography (Digital)

Learn how to take photos that make you proud .

We start the basic photography course from the very beginning and cover all elements that you need to be in control of in order to create good images:

  • Aperture
  • Shutter Speed
  • ISO
  • Light and Exposure
  • Focus Control
  • White Balance
  • Rule of Thirds
  • Composition and Vantage Point
  • Movement (freezing and blurring)
  • Retouching ( an introduction to Photoshop and Lightroom)

The Basic Photography course consists of 5 two-hour classroom sessions and one field trip to the Zaanse Schans . The two hour class begins with an introduction (visual presentation) on the topic of the day, followed by a detailed explanation. After that you get to put into practice what you’ve just learned through a series of hands-on exercises. After every class you get all the materials e-mailed to you, together with the assignments for the following class (homework).  Ideally you are able to spend around 4 hours every week working on the assignments (self study). The small class sizes (max 6) guarantees everyone will get the attention he/she needs. Classes are designed to be effective and fun, suggesting a variety of assignments in which you can apply everything you learn.
