The Advanced Photography course is for those who have some experience with Photography, are comfortable using the manual mode of their cameras and want to develop their technical and creative skills.
Next to working on carefully chosen assignments where you can apply newly learned techniques, you can also work on an extra project of your own, if you have the time.
In the technical workshops, we will work with different types of professional studio lighting, using still-life and real models in order to create images that vary from classic tableaus to modern food and product photography.
We will also discuss different approaches to Photography including fine art, documentary, advertising and editorial.

Basic Photography (Digital)

Learn how to take photos that make you proud. We start the basic photography course from the very beginning and cover all elements that you need to be in control of in order to create good images:

• Aperture
• Shutter Speed
• ISO
• Light and Exposure
• Focus Control
• White Balance
• Rule of Thirds
• Composition and Vantage Point
• Movement (freezing and blurring)
• Retouching ( an introduction to Photoshop and Lightroom)

The Basic Photography course consists of 5 two-hour classroom sessions and one field trip to a site in or around Amsterdam (the group chooses the location). The two-hour class begins with an introduction (visual presentation) on the topic of the day, followed by a detailed explanation. After that, you get to put into practice what you’ve just learned through a series of hands-on exercises. After every class you get all the materials e-mailed to you, together with the assignments for the following class (homework).  Ideally, you are able to spend around 2-4 hours every week working on the assignments. The small class sizes (around 4 people) guarantee everyone will get the attention he/she needs. Classes are designed to be effective and fun, suggesting a variety of assignments in which you can apply everything you learn.

On the Camera For this course, you will need a DSLR camera, Mirrorless camera or Compact camera, which has Aperture (A/Av) Priority, Shutter (S/Tv) Priority and Manual Mode.
