When can Photography be considered Art? Why do some images sell for as much as $6.5 Million while others for as little as $5 or $10 dollars?
In this course we will take a closer look at the History of Photography and see how it has been received by the public and by critics throughout the years and how  technological advancements have been affecting it.

We will also discuss some of the most influential artists using Photography and their methods.
Next to the theoretical part of the course, there will also be some practical assignments that usually given to Art Schools students. We will compare these assignments to assignments given by more technical Photography institutes.

This course is taking place online and, if by April or May, museum visits are allowed again, we will be visiting two Photography museums in Amsterdam: Huis Marseille and FOAM as an extra activity and also as an opportunity to meet face to face.

For whom is this course?
This course is for everyone interested in Photography and Art.
You don’t need to have a fancy camera in order to participate. The assignments proposed during the course can also be done with a smart phone.
This course can also be helpful in offering you some insight into whether you should join an Art School or a Technical Photo School.

The small class sizes guarantee everyone will get the attention he/she needs. Classes are designed to be effective and fun, suggesting a variety of assignments in which you can apply everything you learn.

Environmental Portrait workshop
Making the most of natural light and the outdoor environment, you will learn how to improve your portraits, how to direct models and convey the intensity and emotions you desire to show on a photograph.

During this clinic, we will tackle these two parameters through a hands-on approach. By the end of the day, you will be mastering them and finally, come to understand how crucial they are when taking a photograph.

The Advanced Photography course is for those who have some experience with Photography, are comfortable using the manual mode of their cameras and want to develop their technical and creative skills.
Next to working on carefully chosen assignments where you can apply newly learned techniques, you can also work on an extra project of your own, if you have the time.
In the technical workshops, we will work with different types of professional studio lighting, using still-life and real models in order to create images that vary from classic tableaus to modern food and product photography.
